HU e-mail account
Every student and course attendant at the HU University is given a student number and e-mail address. You will receive these account details by e-mail in June (three months before the start of your study programme). Are you a course attendant? In that case you will receive your account details from your faculty.
Please note, receiving these account details does not yet mean that you have been enrolled. You are officially enrolled once the HU Enrolment Office sends you the proof of enrolment and your student card for the 2012-2013 academic year.
What can your account be used for?
With your account you can log in to:
• the Windows network from the HU computers;
• Osiris Student (www.osiris.hu.nl); for registering for exams and recording any change of address;
• Sharepoint (www.sharepoint.hu.nl); to use the intranet and your personal website;
• the online catalogue of the multi-media library system (www.catalogus.hu.nl);
• your student mail (www.webmail.hu.nl);
• order competitively priced software from Surfspot (www.surfspot.nl).
Important login and user tips
• Go to www.ict.hu.nl for more information about our ICT facilities and the ICT code of conduct;
• You must change your password at least once every 14 months. However, you are advised to do so more frequently.
• There are two ways to change your password:
- press 'Ctrl-Alt-Del' on a HU computer and select ‘wachtwoord wijzigen’ [change password]
- go to www.wachtwoord.hu.nl and follow the instructions. Please note: passwords are case sensitive!
• If you attempt to log on with incorrect information five times, your account will be blocked for ten minutes.

• If you have problems logging in, or you have forgotten your password, please contact the student helpdesk or library at your faculty. Your login name and initial password are stored at the student helpdesk.
